A Message From the Principal
LMES Parents/Guardians,
We are excited to announce that LMES is implementing a new card system to streamline the process of signing students in and out of our Kid Account system. Using these ID cards for the Kid Account management system, we will continue to enhance security and improve efficiency at our school.
Here’s what you need to know:
- What is changing? Starting October 7th, parents will use a designated card to sign their child in and out of school. Each family will receive (2) unique cards for this purpose.
- How will it work? Upon arrival and departure, simply scan your card at the check-in/check-out station located at the main entrance. This will automatically log your child’s attendance. Once all students have an ID card (these will be provided on school picture day), you can use those ID’s to check in your child.
- Receiving your card: Cards will be distributed at LMES' parent/teacher conferences. If you need a replacement card, contact the school office. If you cannot make parent/teacher conferences, your card will be at the front office for pick up.
- Need assistance? If you have any questions or need help with the new system, our staff will be available. Additionally, should you forget your card, you will need to enter your child’s ID# to find them in our system.
We appreciate your cooperation and support as we make this transition. The new card system is designed to enhance safety and ensure a smooth check-in/check-out process for everyone.
Also, this year we will be communicating to our families any time that we have a drill on campus. Not only does that let you know what is going on at campus, but also helps us train and prepare our students and staff and practice our procedures should a real emergency take place on our campus. The different drills that we will be practicing this year have been taught to all of our students and they are as follows:
- Hold: Keep students and staff in classrooms and out of access areas and teachers continue to teach. Why would we have a hold? Medical Emergency, Fight on Campus, etc.
- Secure: Bring all individuals into classrooms or building (secure building and lock outside access points) and teachers continue to teach. Students may or may not transition, depending on the situation. Why would we secure campus? Criminal activity in the neighborhood or a dangerous animal is on campus.
- Evacuate: Students and staff would move from one location to another for safety. Why would we evacuate staff and students? Fire, Mechanical failure, gas leak, bomb threat, etc.
- Shelter: Students and staff stay in classroom and need to be prepared for instructions. Why shelter? Weather, Hazardous materials situation.
- Lockdown: All doors locked, windows covered, everyone is quiet. Why lockdown? Threat or hazard inside of the school, act of violence on site.
Please visit our CCUSD safety website for more information.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Lisa Strohman
We were fortunate enough to have Lisa Strohman present to parents on the topic "Technology Talks: Mental Health, AI, and Deep Fakes." If you were unable to attend the presentation or would like to watch it again, please click the link below to view this insightful session.
Attendance Matters
Parents, we are already seeing some students with multiple absences. We understand that some are for sickness and other reasons that are not in your control. However, some are not. Please be sure to have your child at school. Research shows that missing 10% of the school year (2 days a month) can have a significant impact on student learning. It is also important to have your child to school on time, as the time missed for multiple tardies adds up.
PowerSchool Updates and yearbook:
- Log in to your PowerSchool Parent Portal account ccusd93.powerschool.
com - If you do not have a PowerSchool Parent Portal account, please email powerschool@ccusd93.net

A Message From the Principal
LMES families,
I want to personally invite you to, and encourage you to attend, the Technology Talk at the Fine Arts Center this Monday at 6pm. I know that often when we see events like this, we think they are targeted for middle and high school parents. The reality is that the challenges with technology are affecting students at a younger and younger age and, unfortunately, we as parents are often unaware of most of these challenges. Dr. Lisa Strohman is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to technology and how technology affects students' mental well-being. When I was the principal at Desert Willow years ago, I had Dr. Strohman do a presentation and the two things I heard from the parents who were there were, "I wish I had known this earlier" and "I wish more parents had been here to hear this". Please see the flier below for more information and please try your best to make this presentation.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Focus Groups
We currently have two Focus Groups meeting on our next calendar cycle and on facilities.
The CCUSD Calendar Focus Group, composed of parents, teachers, and administrators has been meeting since May to discuss the next 3-year cycle for the academic calendar. The group is being facilitated by Dr. Patty Jensen, Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services. The purpose of this group is to explore possibilities and provide recommendations to CCUSD leadership on our calendars. The two priorities they are basing their decisions to make any recommendations are that:
-
It has to be in the best interest of our students, and
-
It has to promote financial stability and sustainability for the District
This group will be sending a survey to parents in the coming weeks to gather parent input regarding 3 different calendar concepts: two 5-day/week calendars that feature early release day Wednesdays, and a 4-day/week with no early release days. Be on the lookout for this survey September 4-11. District leadership expects to present a final calendar based on the focus group’s recommendations for approval by the Governing Board by December.
The CCUSD Facility Focus Group, composed of parents, teachers, administrators, and community members, is currently in the exploratory phase, reviewing critical data regarding district enrollment trends, building capacities, and life cycles. The group is being facilitated by Dr. Frank Hendricsen, Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources. The purpose of this group is to explore possibilities and provide recommendations to CCUSD leadership on our District-wide facility usage. The two priorities they are basing their decisions to make any recommendations are that:
-
It has to be in the best interest of our students, and
-
It has to promote financial stability and sustainability for the District
The group recently met with the district demographer and a facility management consultant to analyze current district enrollment and other essential data. The Facility Focus Group’s recommendations will be presented to district leadership, who will work through and present final recommendations to the CCUSD Governing Board.

A Message From the Principal
LMES families,
We love having parents volunteer on campus. This year, for safety and legal purposes, CCUSD has implemented new procedures for our volunteers. If you are volunteering in the classroom or in the office, you will need to complete the Volunteer Application, pass a background check (through our Visitor Management System) and then attend a Volunteer Training, which will occur monthly. To receive a Volunteer Application and sign up for the Volunteer Training, you will contact Jessica Morgan at jmorgan@ccusd93.net. Once you do these two steps and are approved, you will be available to begin volunteering. If you are asked to chaperone a field trip, you will have one more additional step, which is to pass a fingerprint clearance, which Ms. Morgan would help you with that information if needed.
If you already have the volunteer clearance from the past, you do not need to go through this process. However, we will be sending you the new Volunteer Packet and ask that you read through it for the new information.
Here is to a fantastic year!

-
Do NOT enter the front driveway until 8:40 AM or 3:25 PM.

At dismissal, your child will be with their teacher in their grade designated spot, starting with 6th grade thru Kindergarten at the end of the front drive. Older siblings will be with younger siblings.
-
Once you have your student in your car please slowly exit the dismissal line as instructed by our staff.
-
If your child needs assistance buckling their car seat please pull forward so that you can assist your child and we can keep the car line moving.
-
Please do not pass other drivers unless directed to do so.
-
Please do not use the parking lanes as a pull through lane. We will not dismiss children to walk across the parking lot to where you are.
